Ram ki Paidi is a series of ghats along the Saryu, rebuilt in 1985 after floods damaged the old bathing ghats. Pilgrims bathe here through the day, and in the evening the aarti to the river is performed on its terraced steps.
It is smaller and less pressed than the aarti at Varanasi, and the steps are broad and even enough to find a place without arriving an hour early — easier going than the old ghats of Varanasi.
The same terraces carry the lamps at Deepotsav, when lakhs of diyas are lit along them on the eve of Diwali. On an ordinary evening they are simply the best place in Ayodhya to sit for an hour.
